Group condemns Olanusi’s impeachment April 28, 2015 : Eniola Akinkuotu

A group, South West Progressive Youth Movement, has decried the impeachment of Ondo State Deputy Governor, Ali Olanusi, by the House of Assembly.
It also condemned the lawmakers, questioning their right to impeach the deputy governor.
The body accused Governor Olusegun Mimiko and the legislators of being guilty of the same offence for which Olanusi was impeached. It said the governor and the lawmakers should also be impeached.

Addressing a press conference in Lagos on Monday, the coordinator of the group, Taiwo Ajayi, said Mimiko and the lawmakers deserved to be impeached as well since they defected from the Labour Party to the Peoples Democratic Party.
He said, “We condemn Governor Mimiko in strong terms. Since the Ondo State deputy governor has been impeached for defecting from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress, members of the House of Assembly and the governor should be impeached for defecting from the Labour Party to the PDP.”
The group implored President Goodluck Jonathan to advise Governor Mimiko to rescind the decision in order to avert crisis.
The group also urged former Oyo State governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, to accept the result of the governorship election in good faith – for the sake of peace.
The group enjoined Jonathan, the National Assembly, the police and the Nigeria Bar Association to intervene in the face-off between Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and the 19 APC lawmakers
Ajayi said, “At the moment, Ekiti is under siege. We wonder where the governor derives the power to deploy armed soldiers in the streets of Ado Ekiti without any authority to question him.
“We wonder why in a democratic setting like ours, an occupant of one arm of the government will hold another arm of the government to ransom. This is unbecoming of Governor Fayose. We are all aware he once paralysed the administration of justice in the state before he was inaugurated as the governor.
