Boko Haram is a terrorist organization with its roots in northeastern
Nigeria, linked to insurgency stemming from north Cameroon and Niger
Republic.
"Boko Haram" is a Hausa name which translates roughly as "Western education is forbidden," while the real Arabic name translates as "The Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad".
The sect was founded in 2002 by the late Mohammed Yusuf who was captured
and executed by Nigerian security forces in 2009. Until the government
clamped down on the sect’s activities in 2009, the operations conducted
by the sect were more or less peaceful. Since Abubakar Shekau, a former
deputy to Yusuf’s era, violent attacks have escalated in terms of both
frequency and intensity.
The sect seeks to establish a "pure" Islamic state ruled by sharia,
putting a stop to what it deems Westernization. It proposes that
interaction with the Western world is forbidden, and also supports
opposition to the Muslim establishment and the government of Nigeria.
The group is known for attacking Christians, Muslim clerics and
government targets, as well as for bombing churches, mosques, schools
and police stations. The group is also notorious for kidnappings.
Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency has resulted in an
estimated 10,000 deaths between 2002 and 2013.
On November 13, 2013 the United States government designated the group a
terrorist organization. On 22 May 2014, the United Nations Security
Council added Boko Haram to its list of designated al-Qaeda entities,
bringing "funding, travel and weapons sanctions" against the terrorist
group.
On 22 May 2014 Boko Haram was officially declared a terrorist group
affiliated to Al-Qaeda and Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb by the United
Nations Security Council. International sanctions including asset
freeze, travel ban and arms embargo were imposed against the Islamist
extremist group.
It was reported in August 2013 that Shekau had been shot and deposed by
members of his sect, but he survived.
He has taken responsibility for the April 2014 kidnapping of over 200
school girls. On 6 May 2014, eight more girls were kidnapped by
suspected Boko Haram gunmen.
Funding sources for Boko Haram are not certain, but is believed to be

Earlier this morning, President Obama announced a historic accord
to curb Iran's nuclear capabilities in exchange for lifting sanctions
on the country, a move that could open the door for some US businesses. As The Wall Street Journal
reports again today, that's already in the works: Apple and General
Electric have been in touch with potential Iranian distributors.

Who are Nigeria's Boko Haram?
Boko Haram is a radical Islamist movement so-called first by the people in Maiduguri, Nigeria,
where it was formed. Its name broadly translates as "fake education is
forbidden", which has now come to refer specifically to western
education.
Its main aim is to
establish a pure Islamic state goverened by Sharia law and it disputes
the current Christian president's leadership.
Boko Haram was founded in 2002 by Muslim cleric Mohammed Yusuf and was
initially concerned with stopping children attending schools it deemed
too westernised.
Many Muslim
families sent their children to its school at a religious complex set up
my Yusuf which, over time, became a recruiting ground for soldiers.
Despite the death of Yusuf in 2009, the group has carried out a number
of attacks which have resulted in countless deaths. The USA has labelled
it "an emerging threat" with ties to Al-Quaeda, which Boko Haram
denies.
Nigerian military behind deaths of 8,000 prisoners, says Amnesty
Amnesty International has called for the prosecution of nine senior Nigerian
military commanders in a report that accuses them of responsibility for
the deaths of more than 8,000 people during their war on the terror group Boko Haram.
The human rights group claimed the military had run amok during its
six-year campaign against Boko Haram in north-east Nigeria, killing more
than 1,000 people in summary executions.
At least a further 7,000 people - many of them civilians subjected to
arbitrary arrest - had died of starvation or neglect while being held
and often tortured in overcrowded and insanitary prisons.
The report called for investigations into the conduct of five
high-ranking military officials who were in charge of operations in
north-east Nigeria in the past three years, as well as two chiefs of the
army staff and two chiefs of the defence staff.
Questions over fate of Boko Haram leader after he fails to appear new propaganda video
His absence has prompted questions over
whether he may have have been killed, injured or removed from the group
as its overall commander. During a visit to Boko Haram's strongholds in
north-east Nigeria last month, The Daily Telegraph was told by soldiers
that they believed he had fled the country, shaving off his Islamist
beard to help him disguise.
The new
ten-minute long video featured an unidentified young man who said he
spoke in the name of "The army of the caliphate in West Africa". The
name, versions of which have been used by Boko Haram in the past, is
believed to be reference to the group's declaration of allegiance
earlier this year to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria.
The masked speaker in the video uses the broadcast to deny the Nigerian army's claims that it has retaken much of Boko Haram's core territory in the north-east. He also brandishes the ID cards of government soldiers that he claims Boko Haram has killed, and points to the wreckage of what he says is a warplane that has been brought down.
The speaker, who was carrying a rifle, said that he was currently based in the Sambisa Forest, a wooded area the size of Belgium that is the group's main hideout. In the last two months, the Nigerian army has raided at least five Boko Haram camps in the forest, freeing around 750 kidnapped women and children.

Currency Fraud: Court Denies Ten Accused Persons Bail - EFCC
Justice Olayinka Faji of the Federal High Court, Ibadan, on Friday,
June 19 refused the bail application of 10 persons standing trial for
the CBN currency scam. Those denied bail are: Kolawole Babalola,
Olaniran M. Adeola and Toogun Kayode Philips (all ex CBN Staff).
Others who are staff of First Bank include, Isiaq Akano, Ayodele Festus, Oyebanji Akeem, Ayodeji Aleshe and Ajiwe Sunday. The rest are Oni Ademola and Afolabi Esther Olunike, both staff of Wema Bank.
Justice Faji refused to admit the accused persons to bail despite the argument canvassed by their counsel that they will be available to face their trial. In refusing them bail, Justice Faji noted that the evidence against the ten accused persons were weighty.
However, Justice Faji granted bail to five other persons in stringent terms. Those granted bail are Ademola Ebenezer Adewale, Kehinde Fadokun, Olakunle Sijuade, Ajuwon Bolade and Samuel Ogbeide.
The five were granted bail in the sum of N20million each, with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must own landed properties with Certificate of Occupancy in the state. The sureties are also to submit their recent passport photographs and three years tax certificates.
Justice Faji adjourned the cases to June 26, July 1, 10 and September 24, and 25, 2015 for commencement of trial.
The accused persons were arraigned on four separate charges of alleged stealing, conspiracy and fraud. They are alleged to have defrauded the CBN and their various bank of over N8 billions of naira.

Buhari Has Not Ordered Sale Of 9 Presidential Jets – Presidency

Industrialists spend N3.5tn annually on power —MAN
The Chairman, Manufacturers Association
of Nigeria, Kwara State chapter, Omolola Olobayo, on Thursday said
manufacturers in Nigeria spent over N3.5tn annually to power their
industries and other associated transport cost.
She stated that such a colossal amount
spent on diesel and premium motor spirit was impeding industrial
activities as well as increasing the prices of goods.
In an interview with our correspondent in
Ilorin, she stated that MAN members would present a position paper for
President Muhammadu Buhari’s new government on the issue.
Olobayo said,“Manufacturers are even
spending more than N3.5tn annually on generator diesel and petrol. It is
greatly affecting production.
“Infact,
it has made many manufacturers to even close production already. It is
not easy for manufacturers to survive the high cost of energy.
“For some of us, the energy cost is about 40 per cent of manufacturing cost. It is a very pathetic thing.
“The best thing that can happen to
Nigerian manufacturers is actually for the government to work on our
power system so that we get light,”she added.
She appealed to the Federal Government to fix power challenges in the nation.
Olobayo also urged the government to
revamp the nation’s refineries so that petreoluem products would be
refined in the country .
According to her, this will reduce the
cost of production, expand production chain as well as increase
employment opportunities for Nigerians.
“We are really hoping that the new
government will revive the refineries so that we can refine in the
country because most of the problems they are talking about is the cost
of bringing it into Nigeria.
“As we have our own refineries and we
have been doing it before, I see no reason why we cannot go back to
running our own refineries and make all things cheaper,” Olobayo said.
Small steps to becoming an entrepreneur

clock begins to tick the day you resume duty. You are in a race against
time, and cannot afford to be slack.

You are not going to be an employee
forever. One day, you will resign, retire or be fired. Learning these

#5: Do not make an enemy of your boss
“My boss is a wicked person!” “I hate my
supervisor with passion.” “I am ready to pick a fight with my boss and
resign.” Becoming adversarial with your boss? You should refrain from
travelling the route.
There are professional ways to manage
difficult bosses. Engaging them as an enemy is not an option. Ever heard
of ‘stoop to conquer’? Be assertive. Learn the secret of the trade from
your boss: that is why he or she is the supervisor.
#6: You may need your last employer
The
marketplace is a small orbit which revolves round few people and
principles. You must find a place in the orbit through all legitimate
platforms to make an impact. Your last employer is one of such

adversarial. You should, therefore, maintain a good working relationship
with your last employer to the end.
Don’t burn the bridges behind you.
#7: Add value to your current employer
If you want to become an entrepreneur,
you should not ruin the relationship with your current employer. You
have an obligation to work hard when serving others. There is no room
for half measures because they are counterproductive.
The way you work for other people will
translate to become ingrained habit and working lifestyle when you start
working for yourself.
The passion, devotion and commitment you
show in other people’s work will become valuable assets you need to
succeed in your own business in the future.
#8: Moonlighting is unprofessional
Contrary to popular practice,
moonlighting is not professional. Moonlighting is holding a second job,
typically secretly and at night, in addition to one’s regular
employment. It contravenes the spirit and letters of your employment
contract. You cannot use your employer’s time to pursue personal
business.
Ironically, some misguided office
workers in our part of the world are culpable. They give excuse that
their salaries are inadequate to cater to their needs. This
justification sounds logical but is professionally and ethically wrong.
If you want to avoid the heartaches that
moonlighting brings you as an employee and succeed as an entrepreneur
in the future, you should not indulge in the practice. You should be
courageous enough to step out and do your own business instead of
denying your employer the benefits of your full potentials.
#9: Make coalition of allies work
You will not grow your career and future
capabilities as an entrepreneur in isolation of your environment,
market, opportunity and the economy you operate in.
In addition to building goodwill and
developing your network, you should build a coalition of potential
allies for the future. You should explore your colleagues at work, old
students associations, social and religious groups as well as volunteer
groups.
#10: No alternative to experience
You should take the plunge to become an
entrepreneur only when you are ready. There is no need to be in a hurry.
Some employees quit their jobs out of anger and decide to work for
themselves.
Frustrations and regrets will ruin your
chances when bills mount and family responsibilities pressure. You
should stay as long as you can learn and are sure you are ready to take
the plunge.
#11: Be an intrapreneur
You should begin to prepare yourself
from within the organisation where you work now. You are not a worker
but an intrapreneur who approaches his or her job with the diligence of
an internal consultant and change champion.
If you are able to successfully work as
an apprentice entrepreneur with your employer, you will make it when you
set out for yourself.
#12: Network and build goodwill
You meet people every day. These people
come your way for a purpose: the future. You should not underestimate
the power of networking to build goodwill. You should socialise to build
network and goodwill.
It is easier to do business when people
know you as an established professional in your chosen field of
endeavour. Your membership of professional organisations and involvement
in community service will also boost your visibility.
Do your reality check
These twelve small steps are some of the
sound guidelines any employee who intends to quit his or her paid
employment to start a business requires. You should not take the plunge
without a reality check.

in the country, experts envisage more changes in the sector in the

Grant Thornton report, examines the irreversible change expected in the
hotel sector in the coming years, and how hotels will attract the

The report titled, ‘Hotels 2020:
Welcoming tomorrow’s guests,’ says that the hotel industry is going
through a period of unprecedented, irreversible change and will look
very different in 2020 than it does today.
The changes as contained in the report are:
Develop apps to improve customer experience
The report notes that the hotel sector
lags behind in the adoption of advanced technology even though many are
already using mobile technology to provide accessible, customised and
relevant customer services.
With widespread use of smartphones, the
report says that this should be an opportunity for hotels to personalise
their customer experience.
It says, “Hotel companies that can
deliver effective mobile-centric personalisation will become brands of
choice for the guests of 2020.
“With millennials as a key target
segment, personalisation will grow hugely over the next few years.
Hotels will need to personalise services from guests’ booking experience
to their in-room preferences around lighting, temperature and
refreshments. Hoteliers that can deliver effective mobile-centric
personalisation will become brands of choice.”
The global leader of technology, Grant
Thornton, Steven Perkins, believes so. He adds, “The biggest hotel
brands may have announced mobile strategies,” he says, “but they are
doing so far later than leaders in consumer packaged goods, personal
banking and transport. Many are still focused on developing their
websites, whereas the guests of 2020 will search, compare price, book,
and check-in through apps on their mobiles.”
In particular, they must consider apps
to personalise the guest experience – from choosing rooms to specifying
lighting and temperature levels.
Citing the example of the Holiday Inn,
which teamed up with Samsung during the London 2012 Olympics, it says
the apps that will enable guests to control their rooms’ television,
air-conditioning and lights with their smartphones was used.
The report notes that various other
hotels are rolling out apps to let guests use their phones to open their
room doors, select a room of their choice and specifying lighting and
temperature levels.
Nigerians jailed for smuggling drugs into New Zealand
Four Nigerian nationals and a New Zealander have received long jail
terms for their roles in an international drug smuggling ring, the New
Zealand Police said Friday.
The Nigerians were jailed for terms of 15 to 18 years after being found guilty of importing and possessing methamphetamine for supply, and the New Zealander was jailed for nine years for possession of methamphetamine for supply.
The sentences handed down at the Auckland High Court on Thursday marked a successful end to a combined police and customs operation that began in November 2013, said a police statement.
Operation Gatsby was launched after Customs officers discovered methamphetamine with a street value of 1.5 million NZ dollars (1.04 million U.S. dollars) in the luggage of an Auckland man who had just returned from Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.
Detective Senior Sergeant Lloyd Schmid said officers determined that the man had been duped and used as a drug mule by an international syndicate and launched an operation to track the destination of the methamphetamine.
During the five-week investigation, they identified two further importations containing over 1.2 kilograms of methamphetamine, Schmid said in the statement.
“Both had been sent to New Zealand through the international mail system from the Philippines and Cameroon,” he said.
“Operation Gatsby demonstrates that the New Zealand drug market is being targeted by organised crime syndicates from every corner of the globe.”
Two other members of the drug syndicate had been sentenced previously for their roles in the operation.
In August last year, a 39-year-old woman was jailed for four years for possession of methamphetamine for supply, and in January this year, a 40-year-old man pleaded guilty to a similar charge and was jailed for five years and eight months.
The Nigerians were jailed for terms of 15 to 18 years after being found guilty of importing and possessing methamphetamine for supply, and the New Zealander was jailed for nine years for possession of methamphetamine for supply.

“Both had been sent to New Zealand through the international mail system from the Philippines and Cameroon,” he said.
“Operation Gatsby demonstrates that the New Zealand drug market is being targeted by organised crime syndicates from every corner of the globe.”
Two other members of the drug syndicate had been sentenced previously for their roles in the operation.
In August last year, a 39-year-old woman was jailed for four years for possession of methamphetamine for supply, and in January this year, a 40-year-old man pleaded guilty to a similar charge and was jailed for five years and eight months.
Americans mourn Charleston gun massacre victims
The
US is mourning the victims of its latest gun massacre, after a
21-year-old white man allegedly shot dead nine people inside a historic
African-American church in the US city of Charleston.
In
what was described as a “hate crime,” Dylann Roof spent nearly an hour
inside the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on Wednesday night
before killing six women and three men, including the pastor, according
to Greg Mullen, Charleston police chief.
Roof was detained during a traffic stop about three-hours drive away in North Carolina on Thursday.
He
waived extradition and was taken to a waiting police car wearing a
bulletproof vest, with shackles on his feet and his hands cuffed behind
his back.
Memorials
were held across the US on Thursday night and Americans took to social
media to debate how to label the latest mass shooting.
Some
described the killing as a hate crime committed by a lone wolf, and
others saying the incident should be described as “terrorism”.
The
shooting is expected to bring the issue of gun control back to the
political agenda as President Barack Obama’s final term winds down and
the 2016 presidential race gains momentum.
On Thursday, Obama addressed the nation on the shooting.
He
said he and his wife Michelle knew 41-year-old Reverend Clementa
Pinckney, the pastor who was killed along with eight others on Wednesday
night.

Boko Haram is a terrorist organization with its roots in northeastern
Nigeria, linked to insurgency stemming from north Cameroon and Niger
Republic.
"Boko Haram" is a Hausa name which translates roughly as "Western education is forbidden," while the real Arabic name translates as "The Congregation of the People of Tradition for Proselytism and Jihad".
The sect was founded in 2002 by the late Mohammed Yusuf who was captured
and executed by Nigerian security forces in 2009. Until the government
clamped down on the sect’s activities in 2009, the operations conducted
by the sect were more or less peaceful. Since Abubakar Shekau, a former
deputy to Yusuf’s era, violent attacks have escalated in terms of both
frequency and intensity.
The sect seeks to establish a "pure" Islamic state ruled by sharia,
putting a stop to what it deems Westernization. It proposes that
interaction with the Western world is forbidden, and also supports
opposition to the Muslim establishment and the government of Nigeria.
The group is known for attacking Christians, Muslim clerics and
government targets, as well as for bombing churches, mosques, schools
and police stations. The group is also notorious for kidnappings.
Violence linked to the Boko Haram insurgency has resulted in an
estimated 10,000 deaths between 2002 and 2013.
On November 13, 2013 the United States government designated the group a
terrorist organization. On 22 May 2014, the United Nations Security
Council added Boko Haram to its list of designated al-Qaeda entities,
bringing "funding, travel and weapons sanctions" against the terrorist
group.
On 22 May 2014 Boko Haram was officially declared a terrorist group
affiliated to Al-Qaeda and Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb by the United
Nations Security Council. International sanctions including asset
freeze, travel ban and arms embargo were imposed against the Islamist
extremist group.
It was reported in August 2013 that Shekau had been shot and deposed by
members of his sect, but he survived.
He has taken responsibility for the April 2014 kidnapping of over 200
school girls. On 6 May 2014, eight more girls were kidnapped by
suspected Boko Haram gunmen.
Funding sources for Boko Haram are not certain, but is believed to be

What inspired your interest in outdoor advertising?
Actually, I studied marketing. When I came back from United Kingdom, I started my career as a marketing assistant in a Nigerian company. I had the privileged of working with the marketing manager who used to direct the communications of the company. Grand Advertising was our advert agency that time. When used to send briefs; they would go back to do the jingles, advert and returned them back to us. I was part of the process. I was the one delegated to receive them while we debate on it to approve or disapprove. I left that company for another one where I was posted to the sales department. Invariably, I felt there is a need to start my own company. I thought of an area I could easily venture into. Media planners were rare that time. We had mainly outdoor and advertising agencies. I thought of the cost of running an agency that has all the departments; creative, media planning, copyrighting, account management, in some agencies traffic, (and all these personnel have to be graduates with two to three years of experience), salaries, costs of billboards, among others, were on the high side, so I focused on outdoor. Fortunately, outdoor business those days was just evolving. The big players; Afro Media, Afro Links just started business. I saw more opportunities and prospects in outdoor and thought of replicating what Media links had done in outdoor. I resigned and I started inter media services with one of my cousins as the Managing Director. The company lasted for about six to seven before I resigned and travelled to the US. I returned to Nigeria in 1994 and I started Media Views. The good thing about outdoor is you can start very small. It is all about location. You can start with few billboards and personnel. I started the business with two other people; a driver and one other guy who was assisting as production staff. We started with few boards. I actually started the business in my flat, using the garage as production office. From there, we started expanding the business. President Buhari Must Disband, Reconstitute DSS Nigeria

It is our aim to espouse for unity, peace, and security of all Nigerians, irrespective of political, tribal, religious, and gender orientations. We are the fastest-growing human rights organisation in Nigeria. We have membership both at home and from the diaspora communities around the world.
After sixteen darkest years in Nigeria’s history during which Nigerians witnessed the worst manifestations of corruption, tyranny, impunity, poverty, deprivation, insecurity, genocide, and occupation, a historic change has come about. For the first time, we Nigerians put aside our political, religious, tribal, and other selfish considerations to mobilise ourselves in millions, and voted you into office as our last hope.
Your Excellency, the expectations of the Nigerian masses on you are monumental.
Besides the calamitous level of grandeur theft, poverty, and insecurity that was deliberately inflicted on Nigerians, one of the worst things to have happened to Nigeria during the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan (GEJ)-led administration was the criminal politicisation of the military, security, and law enforcement agencies based on religious and tribal lines.
Aside from destroying the once-glorious organisation, the politicisation of the military has lead to the destruction of infrastructure, lives and property through Boko Haram insurgency – the type Nigeria has never seen in its 100-year history. It was the politicisation of the military that led to allocation of whopping 25% of Nigeria’s budget to defence; yet, there was no tangible return on the investment. The military generals were busy plundering significant amount of money allocated to defence, at the same time criminally abdicating from their duties of providing adequate funding for military equipment, training for rank and file of personnel, and paying salaries and allowances on time. Worse still, it could have been the same military generals that connived to provide financial, military, and logistics support to the Boko Haram insurgents. If this had not been the case, how does one explain the incapacity of supposedly the mightiest military in Africa to defeat a ragtag bunch of marauding barbarians?
Upon your assumption in office, most Nigerians expected to see the immediate dismissal of all the military service chiefs. This includes the DG of DSS and the so-called national security adviser. Furthermore, Nigerians expected military officers from the ranks of colonels to generals to be thoroughly investigated for treachery, grandeur theft, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. Those found guilty should have been accorded proper legal protection, but also swiftly tried, dismissed, and punished according to the provisions of the law. While your administration has already taken steps to deal with the military, albeit in a slow pace to the chagrin of most Nigerians. Nigerians trust your judgment in this matter as a former military general. Nigerians and foreigners alike laud your bold decision to move the Command and Control Centre of the fight against Boko Haram to Maiduguri.
Your Excellency, the politicisation of the DSS by the GEJ administration has been deadly equally on the security of Nigeria and Nigerians. Unless you take firm decisive actions to restore confidence, discipline and sense of purpose, Nigerians risk losing the significant gains we achieved by electing you as president.
As things stand today, the DSS is operating as a fully-funded and armed private mafia organisation whose loyalty and sympathy squarely lies with the defunct GEJ administration, and not with Your Excellency. It is fair to say that we the Nigerian masses expect you to treat your personal safety and security as that of all the 180 million Nigerians put together. This is because you are our last hope for salvation.
Following your successful inauguration, you issued a directive to the army, airforce, navy, and the DSS to furnish the presidency with the list of personnel who will constitute the presidential security detail. This was to grant the presidency enough time to screen the officers before they arrive at the Villa. All the service chiefs immediately complied, except Mr Ita Ekpeyong. Instead of complying with the presidential directive, the DG posted 253 of his selected henchmen to the presidency on Wednesday 10/06/2015 without your approval. The reason for his non-compliance is best known to him.
Your Excellency, we contend that if the DG is not prepared to take instructions from the commander-in-chief, then he is definitely not fit for purpose. Similarly, one Widi Liman, who worked as one of the 3 PAs to the DG, has been strategically positioned as the administration officer at the presidency. This is a wholly unacceptable arrangement, as the risk factor is great.
Your Excellency, this is not the first time that this DG has shown disdain for professional works ethics and standards in order to further his ambition of supporting GEJ’s dangerous political agenda for Nigeria. In August 2012, while acting with impunity, the same DG masterminded the unethical and shameful redeployment of 50 DSS officers of northern origin out of the presidency. Ten officers from the south-west and seven from the south-east were also redeployed. They were immediately replaced by carefully-selected DSS officers from Niger Delta.
As though filling up the DSS with his henchmen and women is not bad enough, the current DG operates the DSS like a terror organisation much worse than Boko Haram. Nigerians know where they stand with Boko Haram. Everybody knows that they are a blood-sucking Satanic organisation hired as mercenaries to cause death and destruction in northern Nigeria. People either take evasive actions to save their lives or confront them with full force where feasible. Unfortunately, such is not the case with the DSS. People mistake them for a genuine government security agency whose job among others is to provide counter-insurgency intelligence and protect lives and property. Instead of providing intelligence the DSS under GEJ undermined democracy by rigging elections. They provided material and logistics support to Boko Haram, and destroyed human life and property through targeted killings.
Your Excellency, outlined below are some but not all of the treasonous offences committed by state directors and other senior officers of the DSS under GEJ administration.
Marilyn Ogar: In September 2014, the Australian peace negotiator, Reverend Canon Dr Stephen Davis, who was appointed by the GEJ administration, made a startling allegation that the former chief of army staff, Lieutenant General Onyabor Azubuike Ihejirika, and the former governor of Borno state, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, were complicit in the Boko Haram insurgency. Considering the severity of the allegation, and the level of destruction, a swift and thorough investigation is what would have ensued if the DSS were an internal security agency worth its ounce of salt. Without conducting any investigation whatsoever, and without any regard for due process of law, within 24 hours of that allegation being made public, Marilyn Ogar went on national television to lambast Dr Stephen Davis for “blackmailing” two “innocent” gentlemen. She went further to exonerate Lieutenant Gen Ihejirika and Senator Sheriff of any wrongdoing.
Towards the end of 2014, with total impunity, Marilyn Ogar made several libelous statements on national television which are completely unbecoming of her position as the spokesperson of Nigeria’s internal security agency. On one occasion, without substantiating her allegation, she alleged that the APC was a terrorist organisation. On another occasion, she alleged that the APC had offered her “substantial” bribe but she declined to collect it. The same Ms Ogar is linked to several multi-million corruption scandals that she has failed to refute. Even the #BringbackOurGirls campaign organisation was not safe from Marilyn Ogar’s treachery.
Abdulganiyu O. Daudu: The assistant director for internal security (ADIS), heu, in flagrant violation of his position as a national security officer, organised the production of a video campaign jingle designed to damage the good image of His Excellency just before the presidential election. This jingle was aired several weeks on many television networks supported by the GEJ administration.
Without a legal warrant and any warning, on Saturday 22/11/2014, a team of armed mobile police and DSS officers invaded the APC secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, Lagos. Computers and communication equipment worth millions were destroyed. 28 staff working at the APC IT data centre were unlawfully arrested. This illegal operation was also masterminded by Daudu, according to the leaked DSS document sent to CUPS.

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the
House of Representatives have called for the resignation of the newly
elected deputy speaker of the lower house, Suleiman Yusuf Lasun.
The call by the PDP members is as a result of an agreement they had with their APC counterparts loyal to the new speaker, Yakubu Dogara, in which they agreed that the PDP’s Leo Ogor will emerge as the deputy speaker.
Ogor was the majority leader of the 7th Assembly, and he was originally tipped to emerge as the deputy speaker in an accord between Dogara’s group, known as the Consolidation Group, and the caucus of the PDP in the House.
The leadership of the APC’s choices for the positions of speaker and deputy speaker were Femi Gbajabiamila and Tahir Mohammed Monguno respectively, but the Dogara group struck a deal with their PDP counterparts.
According to Peoples Daily, the election of Ogor was difficult because of the keenly contested election for the position of speaker in which Dogara beat Gbajabiamila by just eight votes- 182 to 174.
